A brief reflective look back, and a hopeful look forward.
 
We were sleeping in. The night before was the last night of the State Fair. That's when everybody goes because there's no entrance charge. We were exhausted from all the walking around and eating fried foods on sticks. Neither me nor my wife had to work till the afternoon that day so we were taking full advantage of the r and r. The phone rang. Still groggy, I answered it. It was Moms, frantic and practically yelling in my ear, "We're under attack! We're under attack!!

Muslim haters are in damage control mode after the carnage in Norway

American anti-Islam bloggers aren’t to blame for the Norway Massacre. But their response to the attacks is nonetheless revealing, in that they are now demanding the kind of nuanced analysis of the Norway shootings that they’ve always failed to offer when implicating jihadism or all Muslims for terror attacks.

A new lawsuit filed in a Utah should be of interest to us due to its far reaching implications. A polygamous family featured on TLC's show "Sister Wives" has filed a federal challenge to Utah's bigamy law that makes their lifestyle illegal. The show features the Brown family as devout followers of a fundamentalist Christian group who openly practice polygamy.

Many Muslim prisoners are often labeled as threats
and are kept in social isolation

 At the Women's Building in San Francisco, the Center for Constitutional Rights gathered a panel of experts to discuss the history and the ramifications of solitary confinement and experimental isolation units in the U.S. prison system.

In 2006, a new type of isolation unit in federal penitentiaries was established called Communications Management Units (CMUs), despite objections from civil liberties organizations. These new facilities offer no contact visits and only four hours a month with family and friends.
